My research investigates how people engage with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. I specifically examine the FATE (fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics) of AI and machine learning. I'm particularly interested in how AI is part of systems of oppression, whether in Academia, the Government, or the Private Sector. I'm also interested in exploring and understanding how search, and recommended systems play a pivotal role in discrimination, oppression, misinformation, and disinformation. Biases can arise based on age, appearance, disabilities, gender, occupation, geographic location, culture, race, skin color, religious belief, and financial status.

HCI, Responsible AI, Social Media, Computational Social Science, Search, Recommender Systems, The Intersection of Ethics and Technology.
